Is Depression Usurping Your Life Force?

If I am not good to myself, how can I expect anyone else to be good to me?
— Maya Angelou

Depression is the number one reason people seek therapy. According to the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), more than 16 million adults in the USA experience an episode of depression each year. The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that 300 million people worldwide suffer from depression.

Women are twice as likely as men to experience depression.

Depression leaves you weary and overwhelmed. Persistent negative thoughts disrupt your focus. Feeling sad, helpless, and lonely is exhausting. You’ve taken steps to help yourself: you’re seeing your physician and perhaps a psychiatrist. You are ready to help yourself even more and think therapy may help.

Whether it’s from compounded everyday life stressors, unresolved grief, trouble adjusting to a life change or distressing event, therapy is a powerful tool to help you get through it and feel better.
