Are you tortured by your perceptions of your image and your body?

Look after your mind and your body will follow.
— Jules Taylor, Editor-in-Chief of Mindful Woman, Winter 2019 edition

You groan as you look at yourself in the mirror. You don’t like what you see. You have an image in your head of how you should look. You obsess about your weight, body shape, and appearance. It is so painful to not like or be satisfied with the way you look. The constant anxiety saps your energy. The way you view yourself has you feeling depressed. You stress about social events because you feel like you don’t look the way you want to. You pressure yourself to lose 5 or 10 pounds before you go to any party. You hide whenever possible. You are not alone.

According to the National Institute on Health (NIH), nearly 10 million people suffer with Body Dysmorphia. Women are only slightly more likely than men to have this condition. Among teen girls, 1 out of 2 has a negative obsession regarding a body part or feature they abhor.

You sigh and tell yourself that you’re done with self-torture. The mental representation that you’ve created for yourself, which you have become emotionally attached to, may not bear any resemblance to how you actually look. You are ready to acknowledge that. You have many interests with dreams and talents that you want to explore, expand and develop.

Your urge to get out of this unforgiving cycle is more powerful than the fear that wants to keep you stuck.

I can help you learn to see yourself with compassion, explore and challenge the beliefs you hold that are obstacles to your acceptance of yourself, beginning where you are now, with who you are inside and out. Are you ready to acknowledge and connect with the power of your unique inner and outer brilliance? I would love to help you on your journey. Contact me for a 15 minute consultation, it’s free!
